On February 28, 2023, Dr. Steffen Greubel, CEO of the German Metro Group, and his delegation visited the Beijing headquarters of DMALL. They had an exchange with Dr. Zhang Wenzhong, the founder of DMALL, Zhang Feng, the president, Yang Kai, the Chief Technology Officer & Executive President of International Business, and others. They also visited the digital exhibition hall of DMALL and the Metro store that has been digitally upgraded. The two sides reviewed the cooperation process and achievements of Metro China and Metro Europe's Polish business, and reached a preliminary intention to further expand digital cooperation in the future.
This is the first batch of international retail giants to visit DMALL after the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions were lifted, which also reflects the German Metro Group's great emphasis and expectations on digitalization.
Dr. Zhang Wenzhong warmly welcomed the visit and exchange of Dr. Steffen Greubel and his delegation. He said that in the digital era, everyone is online, everything is online, and everything is connected. Physical retail needs to embrace digitalization and carry out digital transformation and upgrading in various aspects such as consumers, store operations, and back-office operations to achieve the integration of online and offline. He stated that in the future, in the larger and deeper international cooperation with the Metro Group, DMALL will surely live up to the trust and make digitalization contribute more value.
Dr. Steffen Greubel said that digitalization is a key strategic direction for Metro Europe, and the digital solution provided by DMALL is undoubtedly very solid and effective. He also learned in detail about the intelligent hardware and other modules, and discussed in depth the batch and comprehensive launch of the DMALL system in overseas stores to expand the cooperation areas and enrich the cooperation forms between the two sides.
In 2022, 10 Metro stores in Poland, Europe, have launched the digital system of DMALL, and Metro China has also switched the entire system to the retail SaaS of DMALL. During the 618 shopping festival in 2022, Metro China achieved remarkable sales results, with the online business sales of the APP increasing by nearly 6 times year-on-year, and the sales of private brand products increasing by nearly 7 times year-on-year. The digital system of DMALL and its accumulated excellent industry experience have enabled Metro China to quickly adapt to the innovative development needs of the business, and achieve outstanding results in the construction of membership stores, the growth of the number of members, and the expansion of C-end business.
Subsequently, Dr. Steffen Greubel and his delegation came to the Metro Beijing Sijiqing Store, experienced the software and hardware facilities such as the intelligent shopping cart, the intelligent shopping device, the intelligent locker, the DMALL APP, and the mobile phone workbench. They also personally experienced how the digital system is actually implemented in the retail scene, how the business data can be queried and controlled in real time through the mobile phone, and its excellent performance in data-driven, cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and experience enhancement.
